Is a Visa Necessary to Visit Uruguay?
Uruguay is just a quick ferry ride across the river from Buenos Aires, but as it is a separate country they have there own laws and immigration policy. Citizens of most countries will not require a visa to enter Uruguay, just a valid passport, but there are some exceptions.Citizens of the countries in yellow can enter Uruguay with either a valid passport of national ID card. Citizens of countries in blue can enter with just a valid passport. Citizens of countries in grey require a visa that must be processed in advance of travel.
If you are traveling with a passport of a country in grey we recommend you visit the website of the Uruguayan embassy in your country to check the most recent visa policy.
Do be aware that to book ferry tickets with us or any other ferry line you will be required to give your nationality and passport number to complete a booking.
